There is a massive opioid crisis in the U.S. and it is only getting worse. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if hospitals in MD followed this hospital’s lead in offering acupuncture in the ER? The pain medication is short acting, highly addictive and only masks the pain. Acupuncture helps heal the problem area and releases chemicals naturally produced in the body that are sometimes more powerful than morphine.
Last week, the FDA recommended that physicians educate themselves about the benefits of acupuncture over opioid medications.
This is huge for the acupuncture community and we hope that more insurances (Medicare, private insurances, etc) will start offering a benefit to their customers.
